Our Bulgarian farm is located near the town of Kazanlak in Stara Zagora Province, in the heart of the country’s “Rose Valley,” a protected region, naturally and culturally suited to the growing of aromatic plants.
Our installations comprise a dozen stills and several extractors that we use for the processing of raw materials from plants that we grow ourselves on site or that we gather in the surrounding area.
Our Bulgarian operations began with rose – rosa x damascena – growing on some 100 hectares (nearly 250 acres) of land and producing up to 400 tons of blossoms per year. A few years later we introduced organic/NOP lavender, which now occupies 60 hectares (148 acres).
During the rose harvest, our permanent staff of some 20 employees is joined by about 1,000 seasonal workers.
