Substances appearing on the legally authorized list of 6 February 2001, which are added as ingredients to cosmetic products, mainly for the purpose of inhibiting the development of microorganisms in those products. Each preservative is subject to a maximum usage dose and in some cases restrictions concerning its scope of use (zones or products) as well as labeling requirements.
