Angelica is a biennial, sometimes perennial plant of the Apiaceae family. It grows wild in Northern, Eastern and Central Europe, as well as Iceland, Greenland, Siberia and the Himalayas. Now cultivated and acclimated in the rest of Europe, it is consumed as a culinary condiment. Its stems, seeds and petioles also have medicinal applications, and its root is often used in phytotherapy.
