Description

The Atlas cedar is a tree native to Morocco and Algeria. In Morocco, the cedar forest covers nearly 130,000 hectares (320,000 acres) in the Rif and Atlas Mountains, at altitudes of 1,600 to 2,000 meters. The trees can grow to a height of 40 meters. Logging operations are regulated in this natural forest. Essential oil of Atlas cedar is distilled from sawdust, a by-product of the lumber industry.
