In 1988 Biolandes opened a subsidiary in the heart of Spain’s Huelva Province to produce labdanum and cistus extracts on site. In 2013 we perfected an automated workshop for the production of labdanum gum. Since its construction, the Biolandes factory has been producing a full range of cistus and gum derivatives.

Perfumery

In fine perfumery and personal care products, this ingredient enhances the top notes without the terpenic undertones characteristic of cistus oil. In heart and base notes it provides ambery and leathery effects.

Beauty and personal care

Just like floral waters, concentrated botanical waters have many of the same properties as the essential oil of the plant concerned. According to bibliographical sources, essential oil of cistus has antibacterial, regenerating and healing properties, as well as toning and astringent effects. Cistus water, derived from the distillation of the branches, is reputed to have healing and regenerating properties like the essential oil. Traditionally, cistus water is also used for its astringent properties. This concentrated water can be used in skincare (for mature, dry, sensitive, lackluster and acne-prone skin), haircare and makeup.
