Maté is a well-known South American beverage consumed by the indigenous peoples of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and southern Brazil. The beverage is brewed from the grilled dry leaves of a small indigenous tree called “yerba mate.” Hot or cold, this herbal tea is known for improving mental concentration and various health benefits.
