Native to the temperate regions of Asia and Europe, shepherd’s purse is an annual, biennial or perennial herbaceous plant of the Brassicaceae family. Considered a weed, it grows well at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters, and releases a slightly garlicky odor when crushed. It is harvested all year long, and its aerial parts are widely used in phytotherapy.
